Buyer's Guide
Which barrel saunas are made in the USA?
Buy Almost Heaven's Pinnacle for an electric barrel for four built in West Virginia. Four shops say they build barrels here, and only one uses American wood.

Buy the Almost Heaven Pinnacle if you want a cedar barrel for four that arrives with its heater and needs only an electrician and a level pad. Almost Heaven builds it in Renick, West Virginia, and the 6 kW heater inside comes from Harvia in Finland. We went looking for barrel saunas whose makers say on their own pages where they build them, and four shops cleared that bar: Almost Heaven, Setri in Minnesota, Sweat Kingdom in Idaho and Kachemak Cooperage in Alaska. We'd want five brands before calling a piece a roundup, so each shop gets a full section here and we've left the gaps showing.
Six American barrel saunas fit in one table
These are the barrel saunas we list whose makers say where they build them, from the cheapest up. Three heat with electricity, Setri's burns wood, and Kachemak lets you choose. Every price covers a heater or a stove, so you're comparing saunas that'll heat once the barrel's on its pad.
| Sauna | Built in | Wood | Heat in the price | Lead time | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Almost Heaven Salem (2) | Renick, WV | Western red cedar from US and Canadian forests | Harvia KIP 6 kW electric, Finland | 6–8 weeks, kit to the curb | $4,485 |
| Sweat Kingdom Sweat Barrel (2–6) | Idaho Falls, ID | Red cedar, source not named by the maker | Harvia KIP 6 kW electric, Finnish brand | About 5 weeks | $5,895–$7,895 |
| Almost Heaven Pinnacle (4) | Renick, WV | Western red cedar from US and Canadian forests | Harvia KIP 6 kW electric, Finland | 6–8 weeks, kit to the curb | $7,575 |
| Setri 4-Person Cedar Barrel (4) | Grand Rapids, MN | Western red cedar the maker calls imported | Outside-fed wood stove, Range Steel, MN (per Setri) | Not posted | $7,990 |
| Kachemak Cooperage 6.5' x 6' | Anchorage, AK | Alaskan white spruce, or western red cedar of unstated origin | Electric or wood stove, brand not named | Waiting list | $10,700–$11,500 |
| Kachemak Cooperage 8' x 8' | Anchorage, AK | Alaskan white spruce, or western red cedar of unstated origin | Harvia 20 wood stove, Finland | Waiting list | $17,500 |
List prices read Oct 10–11, 2026, before sales tax, freight and the pad. Almost Heaven and Sweat Kingdom had sales running when we checked. Almost Heaven's freight stops at the curb; Setri, Sweat Kingdom and Kachemak quote delivery. Sweat Kingdom's cedar source comes from a dealer, Sun Valley Saunas, which calls it Canadian.
Almost Heaven's Pinnacle is the barrel to buy
The Pinnacle seats four on benches a little over five feet long, and Almost Heaven's spec table lists the country of origin as the USA. It comes as a kit of cedar staves with a 6 kW Harvia KIP heater in the price. Almost Heaven says its cedar grows in the Northwestern US and Canada and doesn't split the two. Harvia, the Finnish heater company, has owned Almost Heaven since 2019.
The heater wants a hardwired 240V, 30-amp circuit, which means an electrician, and the freight stops at the curb, so you'll carry the staves to the pad and put them together. Two people who never host can buy the Salem for about $3,000 less on the same heater and circuit.

Almost Heaven also sells barrels built in Romania
The same storefront carries thermo-pine barrels whose spec tables read Romania, and one of them is called the Kuuma. It has nothing to do with the Kuuma wood stoves Lamppa builds in Tower, Minnesota. The Takoa, Magnus and Evander barrels list Romania too, and the collection filter sorts Almost Heaven's saunas by where they're built.
Read the Country of Origin row on any Almost Heaven page before you order. The cedar barrels built in West Virginia say USA there.
Setri's barrel burns wood in a Minnesota-made stove
Setri says everything is made in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and its 4-person barrel comes with a wood stove you feed from outside the hot room, so the bathers stay on the bench while someone tends the fire. No other barrel here has a heater its maker places in the US. Setri's FAQ says this stove comes from Range Steel on the Iron Range.
The cedar is another story. The same FAQ promises locally sourced materials, and the product page calls the western red cedar imported without naming a country. Setri doesn't post freight terms either. Ask where the cedar grew and get the delivery quote in writing, and budget for a pad that can carry about 800 pounds.

Sweat Kingdom lets you pick the barrel's length
Sweat Kingdom builds the Sweat Barrel in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in lengths that seat two to six people, all around one 6 kW Harvia KIP. The maker says it reaches up to 230°F (110°C) in 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the weather, and that two people can assemble it. It ships in about five weeks, the quickest lead time we found among these shops.
Sweat Kingdom describes its wood only as red cedar. A dealer that resells its saunas, Sun Valley Saunas, calls the cedar Canadian. Like the Almost Heaven barrels, it needs a hardwired 240V, 30-amp circuit.

Kachemak builds the barrel grown in America
Kachemak Cooperage is a family workshop in Anchorage, and it lists its barrels in Alaskan white spruce or western red cedar. Its home page says it builds with locally available wood. Choose the spruce and you get the only barrel in this guide whose maker says both the build and the wood are American. The cedar option has no stated origin. The price covers the stove, roof, floor, benches, windows and bucket.
You pay for that, and you wait for it. The smallest barrel costs more than twice a Salem, and new orders join a waiting list. Kachemak quotes delivery by distance without saying whether it ships outside Alaska. It doesn't name the stove in the 6.5-foot barrel, so you'll want the electric stove's rating before you call an electrician. The 8-foot barrel burns wood in a Harvia 20 from Finland.

Scandia's barrels stay out of the table
Scandia Manufacturing in Idaho sells barrel saunas of Spanish cedar and says it works with a network of manufacturers across the United States. It doesn't say where its barrels are built, and Spanish cedar grows in Central and South America. A US build is a guess on that evidence, so Scandia's barrels didn't make the table and the count stays at four.
Electric barrels here need a 240V circuit
The Almost Heaven and Sweat Kingdom barrels all run a 6 kW heater on a hardwired 240V, 30-amp circuit, the kind an electric range uses, and that work belongs to a licensed electrician. Our wiring guide walks through what the National Electrical Code asks of it. Setri's barrel and Kachemak's wood-stove versions need no circuit for heat. They need a chimney and the clearances your building department sets, which our permit guide covers.
How we chose these barrels
We read every maker's own pages on Oct 10 and 11, 2026: product pages, Kachemak's price list, Setri's FAQ and Almost Heaven's spec tables, which carry a Country of Origin row for each barrel. Sweat Kingdom's cedar source comes from the Sun Valley Saunas listing. A barrel got a row only when its maker says on its own site that it builds that barrel in the US. The prices in the table leave out sales tax and freight. Owner reviews weren't part of this one, and we haven't asked any of the four shops for more than they publish.
