Who should buy the Sebago?
Sebago suits someone in New England who wants a sauna built from Maine materials and installed for one fixed price. Sebago builds in Jefferson, Maine, with eastern white cedar from Aroostook County, Maine-grown framing, wood-fiber insulation made in Madison and stones from a quarry in Casco, and a Kuuma stove from Minnesota heats it.
Kachemak's 8' x 8' barrel is the other sauna we list with American wood, built in Anchorage. Cedar & Stone's Model 3 arrives fully built for a good deal more.
What does it take to install?
Sebago meets you on site and sends a written proposal, then builds the sauna off site, delivers it and installs it. The usual footprint is 8 by 8 or 8 by 12 feet. A Kuuma wood stove is standard, and Sebago doesn't publish the model or power of its electric option.

What to know before you buy
Cedar, wood-burning, electric. These decide whether it suits your space and your electrical panel.
- CedarCedar resists rot and insects naturally, and it's aromatic. It conducts heat poorly, so the benches stay cool enough to sit on in a hot room.
- Wood-FiredA log stove heats the room, so the sauna runs fully off-grid and the crackling fire becomes part of the ritual. Fans of wood heat call its löyly the softest. Plan for a chimney and about 45–60 min of heat-up.
- ElectricAn electric heater holds a steady temperature on its thermostat and needs no chimney. Many models add app or timer control.
