Who should buy the Ultra Small?
The Ultra Small suits an indoor room of up to 210 cubic feet, about a 5 by 6 foot room with a 7-foot ceiling at the larger size. Scandia says it builds through a network of American manufacturers, and the heater is UL listed. The rocks and the control box come in the price.
For a bigger room, Scandia's Ultra Medium runs 6 to 9 kW. If you're lining a room with a precut kit, Finlandia's FPC56 package comes with its own heater.
What does it take to install?
The heater is 16 inches wide, 23.25 tall and 10.75 deep, and the control box mounts outside the room. An electrician hardwires it on a 208V or 240V single-phase circuit. Scandia's FAQ notes that UL caps the ceiling at 194°F (90°C) in a 7-foot room.
